Public Engagement Activities

"Science is Wonderful!" Science fair, Brussels/Belgium.

I am thrilled to meet with students and their families in EU Science is Wonderful! Science Fair. With my colleauge Gökçe Kor Bıçakçı, we communicated in “Let’s keep the world natural!” science booth with 4800 pupils from preschools, elementary-intermediate-high schools. We talked about the importance of toxic chemicals from daily activities and their impacts on our health. A bench type wastewater treatment plant system was setup to demonstrate how to treat wastewater. Quizzes were prepared, examples for natural products were given. Interested high school students informed about the details of the MTSonNAS project and MTS. Hands on activities for natural air freshener production was practiced. Moreover, visual experiments demonstrating the chemical structure of pollutants and removal mechanisms was shown.

European Researchers’ Night-MEDNIGHT’2023 – 4th Young Researchers at   Schools International Meeting, Virtual Event, September 2023

Resim2

I met intermediate/high school students from different locations of Mediterranean Region in MEDNIGHT 2023. It was a pleasure to inspire fresh minds by informing about the impact and importance of toxic chemicals from daily activities and their impacts on our health. In this virtual event, basic principles of wastewater treatment and MTSonNAS project was shared and questions from the students were replied.

It was a pleasure to meet with children recovered from leukemia and their families in two separate virtual event. With may presentation, I highlighted the importance of water for people and ecosystems and discussed on the following questions:

How toxic chemicals from daily activities influence the environment?

What are basic principles of wastewater treatment?

What does MTSonNAS project aim?
